A go-to sparkling wine to open with friends or to enjoy with your sweetie, the Gloria Ferrer Sonoma Brut is an easy-to-drink, very bubbly, light champagne with clean notes of citrus and green apple.
This is not a sweet sparkling and will pair well with fresh summer foods like grouper and grits, succotash made with farmer’s market veggies, and goat cheese appetizer. Not just for summer or New Year’s, though – this wine is a great starter for a fall or winter meal as well, as it’s not too heavy, and is a great wine to open up with a fabulous cheese platter spread, to pair with a salad (like this sweet potato and goat cheese salad) and citrus-y dishes like Jamie Oliver’s sage milk chicken.

“Gold Medal Winner: 2014 Los Angeles International Wine Competition
#78 Wine Spectator Top 100 of 2009
Produced exclusively with hand-picked grapes, this Cuvée was put on the American market for the first time in 1985. It is prepared according to the traditional method. Its bouquet with pear aroma distinguishes it from other sparkling wines and the fruity aroma lends it an initial effervescence which culminates in a lingering, creamy effect.
85% Pinot Noir, 15% Chardonnay.”
Wine Enthusiast scored it a 90 and noted “A wonderfully drinkable sparkling wine that appeals immediately for its balanced texture and rich flavors. Easy to like for its array of raspberries, limes, vanilla, toast and yeast. The sour lees note is nicely balanced with the sweet liqueur of dosage.”
